Bomb hoaxes disrupt Prague Airport flights

Prague Airport has experienced a series of bomb threats targeting passenger flights, forcing security responses while ensuring normal operations continue. Czech police announced on Friday that warnings involving “improvised explosive devices” had been issued against several aircraft arriving at and departing from the facility. Authorities collaborated with airport staff to reinforce security protocols without interrupting service.

The latest threats follow a turbulent day on Thursday, when at least 27 passenger planes across Europe received similar warnings. Some flights were rerouted, and a handful were accompanied by fighter jets as a precaution. No explosives were found during any of the searches. Some of the flights took off from airports in Britain, with Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander describing the incidents as “malicious hoax threats”. Several similar threats were made against passenger planes on Tuesday.

European authorities have expressed concern over an increase in hybrid warfare tactics, though no country has yet attributed responsibility for the hoax bomb threats. Airport authorities in Rome on Thursday said they received hoax threats against two inbound flights via an email signed on behalf of the “Fighters of the Male State”, thought likely to refer to a far-right Russian group. It is said they claimed to be targeting a “feminist regime” and threatened to “turn the skies red” with explosions. Europe has faced a series of incidents in recent months, including drone incursions and cyber-attacks against supermarket fridges and freezers on Monday. Moscow has denied any involvement.
