Dusit to Launch ASAI Hotels in Malaysia This September

Dusit International is expanding its ASAI Hotels brand into Malaysia with the opening of ASAI Gamuda Cove on September 15, 2026. The 13-storey property will be the largest ASAI hotel to date, featuring 280 rooms. Located within the 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove township, approximately 20 minutes by car from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, it will be Dusit’s second hotel in Malaysia after Dusit Princess Melaka. The location represents a shift from the brand’s usual city-focused neighbourhoods, as this is the first ASAI property to open outside an urban centre.

The new property sits beside the 1,111-acre Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary. Guests will also have access to the 90-acre Wetlands Arboretum, which offers walking routes, birdwatching, and environmental learning experiences. Nearby attractions include SplashMania Waterpark, featuring 39 slides and attractions, and Discovery Park, an outdoor recreation and entertainment destination. The hotel’s design reflects the ASAI Hotels “Live Local” philosophy, which emphasises connecting visitors with the surrounding environment and community.

Chanin Donavanik, Group CEO of Dusit International, stated that the project demonstrates how the brand can operate in a setting where nature, recreation, and a growing community intersect. He noted that the location will provide a base for travellers and a new gathering place for residents. The property includes an electric tram network within the township to help guests move between key areas.

Accommodation and Dining Options

ASAI Gamuda Cove will offer 280 rooms in several configurations to suit different needs. Options range from compact accommodation for solo travellers and couples to balcony rooms, bunk-bed options, and a two-room family category accommodating up to six guests. Selected rooms will overlook the wetlands. Facilities include an infinity pool, a gym, co-working areas, and flexible meeting and event spaces for up to 100 guests.

Three dining venues are planned for the hotel. Nasi & Khao, the all-day dining restaurant, will serve Malaysian and Thai flavours alongside international dishes. Tea Shop will offer teas and light bites, while the Pool Bar will serve cocktails, refreshments, and snacks overlooking the infinity pool and wetlands.

ASAI Gamuda Cove will join the brand’s existing portfolio in Bangkok and Kyoto. It will become the fourth operating ASAI hotel globally, following ASAI Bangkok Chinatown, ASAI Bangkok Sathorn, and ASAI Kyoto Shijo. The opening aligns with a broader expansion of Dusit’s footprint in Malaysia, which also includes the upcoming Dusit Princess Ipoh scheduled for October 2026. The timing coincides with the return of Formula 1 to the region, offering a potential boost to tourism during the event.
